Portrait of Orleans

The fresh morning air, not yet warmed by the sun, is silent.
A light breeze rustles the branches of the tree.
The light on the yellow post is green despite the lack of cars on the road.
The Esso station and its tires wait.
At the next corner a car about to turn the other way,
Avoiding this corner.
A woman stiffly walks along the sidewalk,

Wearing a straw hat and a starched blues dress.
